Piranha Tech upgraded its omnidirectional EW system DF-1

Ukrainian EW systems manufacturer Piranha Tech, which recently also began producing interceptor drones, has announced the modernisation of one of its products — the omnidirectional electronic warfare system Piranha DF-1.

According to Anatolii Khrapchynskyi, Deputy CEO of the company, the upgrade expanded the system’s frequency range and power output, as well as added a detection module with automatic activation. “This means the system automatically starts operating when a Mavic or a similar drone with a digital or analogue video link enters its range,” Khrapchynskyi told Defender Media.

Piranha DF-1 is an omnidirectional EW complex designed to protect sites from small UAVs such as Mavic, Autel and others. The system creates a suppression dome that blocks enemy drones’ control and data transmission signals.

In early September, Defender Media reported that Piranha Tech had unveiled a new modular EW complex to counter Mavic and FPV drones, named DF-M.
