L7 Simulators presented a new training system for interceptor drone crews

Ukrainian developers of military trainers and simulators, L7 Simulators, have presented a new training system designed to prepare crews of interceptor drones. The system is named Vartovyi and enables the practising of detection, tracking and interception skills against enemy drones in the most realistic conditions.

The simulator is intended to imitate full-scale aerial engagement between a interceptor drone crew and enemy UAVs: the navigator detects the target, tracks it, transmits coordinates or directs weapons and supports the pilot, while the pilot controls the drone in the air, performs manoeuvres and ensures combat contact with the target.

Vartovyi imitates realistic target behaviour, trajectory building, and the processes of detection, tracking, weapon direction and engagement of enemy UAVs. The programme supports both multirotors and fixed-wing UAVs.

The simulator uses metrics to determine effectiveness and records results, and the collected data are used to create autonomous algorithms.

According to the developers, the interface of Vartovyi is as close as possible to standard ground stations, it can be deployed quickly and offers high mobility.

It is also worth noting that earlier the Ukrainian defence tech company DevDroid presented a modular control system for ground robotic complexes — Droid Box.
