Ukrainian veterans release tabletop game Dronovody about modern combat drones

Ukrainian studio Ihrolad is presenting the tabletop game Dronovody – the game created by veterans based on the combat and instructional experience of UAV units. The game allows players, in the role of commanders, to assemble crews, develop unmanned aerial vehicles and conduct combat operations aimed at destroying enemy units and equipment.

Dronovody is presented as the first tabletop game about drones and the use of technology on the battlefield in modern war. The design features more than 70 original illustrations, including a catalogue of enemy equipment and Ukrainian UAVs. The game is a fully Ukrainian product with its own game mechanics.

In Dronovody each player forms a unit from characters who have unique abilities and specialisations. Drones in the game act as a strategic resource with different purposes, while support is represented by a deck of cards that includes artillery, volunteer assistance, ammunition and defensive measures.

The gameplay includes several key actions: assembling a crew, purchasing and upgrading drones, investing in development projects to increase effectiveness, and striking enemies with drones to gain trophies and achieve victory. The game also includes “threats” – events that force players to change tactics and maintain tension.

The developers place emphasis on care for personnel, the importance of medical and technical resources, and a culture of donation, which are reflected in the game mechanics. Scenario and card options allow play both individually and as a team.

The project has a social focus: profits from sales are directed towards training UAV pilots and purchasing medical supplies for combat units. In addition to its entertainment value, the game contains educational elements – it familiarises players with technologies, examples of enemy equipment and cases of military experience.
