This year, the Ministry of Defense has approved the operation of almost 480 new models of weapons and military equipment

The Ministry of Defense has authorized almost 480 new models of weapons and military equipment for use in the first six months of 2024. Most of them were codified as unmanned aerial vehicles, reports the ministry.

The codification and approval of domestic weapons and military equipment with a NATO nomenclature number allows them to be purchased at the expense of the state budget.

According to Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Havryliuk, Ukrainian defense manufacturers have significantly increased production. Out of 480 new models, about 290 are made by domestic companies. For comparison, in all of 2023, more than 200 Ukrainian-made models were adopted.

In terms of the number of codified weapons samples, the leaders are:

1. Unmanned aerial vehicles – reconnaissance drones and UAVs for various purposes.
2. Ammunition – most of all for UAVs.
3. Communication and electronic warfare equipment.

The list also includes engineering equipment, ground robotic systems, melee weapons, demining systems, and optoelectronic devices.
