Ukrainian company Venator Technologies showcased its X-wing loitering munition named Flycat at the AUSA 2025 exhibition in the United States, Army Recognition reports.

The new system features an an electric motor and a modular warhead weighing between 2.5 and 3.6 kg, which can be high-explosive, shaped-charge, or thermobaric, with a total weight of around 12 kg. Its navigation system is reported to be resistant to electronic warfare and operates independently of GPS.

According to the developer, the drone’s flight endurance is 40 minutes with a range of up to 40 kilometres; its operating altitude ranges from 200 to 700 metres, with a ceiling of 1,000 metres. The cruising speed is 85 km/h, while the terminal dive speed reaches up to 120 km/h. The weapon is launched from a pneumatic catapult and has a readiness time of 20 minutes.

Thanks to its X-shaped wing, Flycat can manoeuvre more dynamically across all axes than small fixed-wing drones, which is reportedly important for engaging moving targets. The drone is fitted with an autonomous target-tracking system and, instead of satellite navigation, relies on intelligent navigation and communication modules to maintain its course.

According to the developers, Flycat bridges the gap between disposable FPV drones and larger loitering munitions. The drone can operate autonomously or in tandem with a reconnaissance drone that serves as both a target designator and communication repeater.
