Quantum Systems localises fuselage production for Vector drones in Ukraine

German company Quantum Systems has established full-scale production of fuselages for its Vector drones at a facility in Ukraine. Company representatives announced the development during the European Defence Tech Hackathon, held in Lviv from 22 to 25 May, according to Militarnyi.

“We now have full production of 100% of all fuselage parts manufactured here in Ukraine,” said Dmytro Gorlin, Chief Technology Officer at Quantum Systems Ukraine.

The locally produced components fully meet the required dimensions and production standards. However, Ukrainian expertise has made it possible to improve certain characteristics — notably, enhanced material strength and reduced weight. The fuselage weight has been decreased by nearly 250 grams.

Quantum Systems is currently testing a new payload, which includes acoustic sensors, artificial intelligence modules with more powerful processors for data processing, 360-degree cameras, and other upgrades. The drones have also been equipped with visual navigation capabilities for both day and night operations.

The Ukrainian facility began operations in spring 2024, establishing production of the Vector reconnaissance drone. Prior to this, assembly was already taking place in Ukraine, alongside two other company operations — an R&D centre for drone development and a maintenance unit.

In February, the company announced plans to double its production in Ukraine.

In May, Quantum Systems raised €160 million and became Europe’s first dual-use unicorn, reaching a valuation of €1 billion. The company was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Munich. It employs 550 people across Germany, Australia, Ukraine, and Romania.
