{"id":8634,"date":"2025-08-08T17:19:20","date_gmt":"2025-08-08T14:19:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.thedefender.media\/?p=8634"},"modified":"2025-12-08T12:00:23","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T10:00:23","slug":"anti-aircraft-warfare-on-ugv-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stage.thedefender.media\/en\/2025\/08\/anti-aircraft-warfare-on-ugv-platform\/","title":{"rendered":"Engineers from the 28th SMB develop an anti-aircraft system based on a ground robot"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Engineers from the 28th Separate Mechanised Brigade, named after the Knights of the First Winter Campaign, have developed a mobile air defence system built on an <a href=\"http:\/\/stage.thedefender.media\/en\/tags\/nrk\/\">unmanned ground vehicle<\/a>. It is equipped with the Igla man-portable air-defence system (MANPADS). Photographs of live-fire tests of the new complex were published on the brigade\u2019s official page, with Defender Media obtaining further details directly from the unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The need for an autonomous platform arose due to the dominance of Russian drones and aircraft in the combat zone. \u201cPlanes, helicopters, and reconnaissance UAVs frequently enter the positions of our infantry. Whereas these could previously be shot down relatively easily with MANPADS, Russian FPV drones now monitor every movement of the infantry and often prevent them from even leaving their trenches,\u201d the servicemen explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The platform used to fire the missiles is a proprietary development of the brigade, as explained by an officer with the call sign \u201cKhatab\u201d. Photo by Kostyantyn Liberov<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The closest analogue to \u201cAlycha\u201d is the ground robot \u201cVolley\u201d, which can also carry an Igla launcher. Other commercially available platforms do not meet the brigade\u2019s requirements.
