{"id":14428,"date":"2025-10-29T15:52:58","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T13:52:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.thedefender.media\/?p=14428"},"modified":"2025-10-29T15:55:18","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T13:55:18","slug":"china-resticts-imports-to-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stage.thedefender.media\/en\/2025\/10\/china-resticts-imports-to-ukraine\/","title":{"rendered":"China restricts the import of components for Ukrainian drones"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">China has introduced new restrictions on the export of technologies and parts used in the production of <a href=\"http:\/\/stage.thedefender.media\/en\/tags\/drones\/\">unmanned aerial vehicles.<\/a> According to the German <a href=\"https:\/\/www.n-tv.de\/politik\/Peking-graebt-Kiews-Drohnenproduktion-das-Wasser-ab-article26125202.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">n-tv,<\/a> Beijing is deliberately seeking to slow down the development of Ukraine\u2019s drone industry, which has become one of the key factors in countering Russian aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Analysts note that the decision was made in the wake of successful Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian targets. According to Hendrik Remmel, an expert at the German Institute for Defence and Strategic Studies (GIDS), such operations \u201cput Moscow under military, economic and political pressure\u201d, which is causing concern among Russia\u2019s partners, particularly in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to direct exports to Ukraine, China has also halted the shipment of electronics to EU countries if there is a suspicion that the equipment might eventually reach Ukraine. The co-founder of the Iron Cluster, Yurii Lomikovskyi, confirmed that attempts to make purchases through European intermediaries have repeatedly failed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although around 40% of components are now produced domestically in Ukraine, critically important elements were previously imported in bulk from China because of lower prices and the country\u2019s large-scale production capabilities. The total value of Ukraine\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/stage.thedefender.media\/en\/tags\/industry\/\">defence technology sector<\/a> is estimated at $35\u201340 billion, employing more than 800 companies. The shortage of components directly affects the pace of serial production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-text-align-left wp-element-button\" href=\"http:\/\/stage.thedefender.media\/en\/2025\/10\/black-mirror-30\/\"><strong>Read more: <\/strong>Black Mirror. Auto-guidance in Molniya, automated air defence, ring-wing drone and other Russian miltech innovations<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ukrainian side emphasises that these actions pose risks to the production rates of unmanned systems that have proven effective on the battlefield. For Ukraine, three areas are now crucial: diversifying supply sources (the EU, South Korea, Taiwan), replacing imported engines, batteries and autopilot systems, and establishing joint financial mechanisms with the EU to support serial production and R&amp;D. These measures would help reduce dependence on Beijing\u2019s political decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, Lomikovskyi notes that achieving China\u2019s level of efficiency will be difficult without long-term financing and joint research and development programmes with European partners.
