Ukrainian Armor successfully integrates combat module into Protector UGV

Ukrainian Armor has tested the heavy Protector unmanned ground vehicle, equipped with the remotely operated Tavria-12.7 combat module. The company released footage of the trials on social media.

During the tests, the UGV successfully conducted firing at various distances and in several modes. According to the company’s CEO, Vladyslav Belbas, integrating the weapon station turns the Protector into a fully fledged combat platform.

The Tavria-12.7 combat module is fitted with a 12.7 mm Browning M2 machine gun and a digital fire-control system. It is designed for observation, target detection, and engagement of ground and aerial threats, including unmanned aircraft.

This is not the first integration of the station: the 14.5 mm version of the Tavria was tested on the Protector platform back in 2024. At the time, it was reported that the module was fitted with an electro-optical unit capable of detecting targets at distances of more than 5 km in all light conditions.

The Protector is the largest Ukrainian UGV, featuring a diesel engine, a payload capacity of up to 700 kg, and a range of more than 400 km. In June 2025, the system was codified and entered serial production. The drone is intended for logistics, evacuation, and can also serve as a platform for EW and ESM systems.
