Polish Unimot Group invests $110 000 in joint drone production with Ukraine

Polish energy and logistics group Unimot has announced its plans to enter the defence market through investment in a new company, PZL Defence, which will specialise in the development and production of UAVs, the company’s press office reported.

Unimot Group will invest PLN 400,000 (over $110,000). The project includes an unnamed Ukrainian partner and Polish defence component manufacturer PZL Sędziszów, which will provide production facilities and laboratory equipment.

A letter of intent to establish strategic cooperation was signed on 24 July.

“We recognise the growing importance of unmanned technologies for regional security. That is why we are joining a project that combines Polish engineering expertise with unique Ukrainian experience gained in actual combat conditions,” said Adam Sikorski, Chairman of the Board at Unimot.

Once the registration of PZL Defence is complete, Unimot will hold 40% of the shares, PZL Sędziszów 10%, and the Ukrainian partner 50%.

The project will start with the production of civilian drones, followed by military UAVs and anti-drone systems designed to protect critical infrastructure.

PZL Defence will also establish a research and development centre focused on the creation of reconnaissance drones, interceptor drones, loitering munitions, and anti-drone technologies.
